Welcome to 6-1 Science with Mrs. Sano!

I am so excited to learn with you this year! Something so special about science is that you’re not supposed to know all the answers. Sure, you’ll learn a lot of facts this year about space, cells, and electricity, but what you’re really learning in science is how to ask questions and find their answers. Above all else, scientists get comfortable with NOT knowing, because that just means more to learn. I am new to Haines this year, too, and we will be investigating together - I can’t wait!

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.

About Me

While this is my first year at Haines as a teacher, I am not new to the building, as I was a student here first. I was at Haines when it was still an elementary school for first through third grade, then spent two years at Chairville before returning to the Sixth Grade Center. It is such a special place and I am so glad to be back!

This is my ninth year in the classroom, and I have taught both fifth and sixth grades and math and science. I have a BS in Integrated STEM Education with a specialization in Biology and a MAT in Special Education, both from The College of New Jersey, and a MEd in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University.

My husband and I have two boys, Nolan and Corey. As a family, we like to spend time outside, be it at the playground, beach, or the woods. We like to go out to eat, bake, and our favorite vacation spot is Disney World. We live right here in Medford, so I’m sure we’ll see you around town!
